What does an ADHD Assessment involve?
I offer comprehensive, NICE-compliant assessments designed to provide a thorough understanding of your or your child’s needs. All assessments are tailored based on individual need. I work with a team of registered professionals who are involved in the assessment depending upon your needs.
Before committing to an assessment, I offer a screening appointment. This meeting helps me to understand your concerns and gather preliminary information. For some people, I may advise that further assessment is not indicated, or may suggest that assessment and support is indicated for other conditions.

The cost of the screening appointment is £240.
If we agree that a full diagnostic assessment is indicated, this includes:
-
Developmental History
A detailed interview with parents or caregivers, or somebody who knows you well is conducted to obtain a comprehensive developmental background. -
ACE Interview
A detailed interview with parents or caregivers, or somebody who knows you well, is conducted to obtain a rich history of ADHD traits and their functional impact. -
Direct Clinical Observation
This appointment also incorporates direct clinical observation to assess core symptoms and their impact on functioning. -
QbCheck
The QBCheck is an objective, computer-based test that measures core symptoms, aiding in assessment. This helps to understand attention, activity and impulsivity in comparison to others of the same age. -
Psychometric Testing
Standardised assessment tools are completed by you and/or parents, the child (if appropriate), and the educational provider (if appropriate), including the Conners Rating Scales. -
School Information/Observation

You will be asked to provide these where necessary. -
Feedback Appointment
A session to discuss assessment findings, provide insights, and outline recommendations. -

Why choose Dr Lucy?
As a Clinical Psychologist, I offer comprehensive assessments that go beyond merely determining a diagnosis. My approach focuses on understanding your child’s strengths, challenges, and specific support needs. This holistic assessment provides valuable insights that can inform tailored interventions at home and in educational settings. I do not make diagnostic decisions based on the results of single assessments; I feel it is important to build a relationship
with your child and family to fully understand their presentation and needs. As a clinical psychologist, I have extensive training and experience in ADHD and Autism, as well as in co-occurring differences and difficulties, including intellectual disabilities, mental health, trauma, attachment difficulties, foetal alcohol spectrum disorder and specific learning difficulties (e.g dyslexia).
Regardless of the outcome of your child’s assessment, you will receive tailored recommendations for your child, your family and for education, to help create supportive environments that foster your child’s development and wellbeing. It is important to me that my assessment is neuroaffirmative, and therefore, I focus on the strengths your child presents with, as well as acknowledging the areas they would benefit from support.
